LPS Lined Tubing provides protection from frictional wear and corrosive effects of the caustic downhole environment

LightningFlo™ Tubular Lining

LightningFlo™ thermoplastic tubular lining is mechanically inserted and bonded to the ID of the tubing joint allowing the liner to be installed inside of both new and used tubing. The lining provides protection from frictional wear and corrosive effects of the caustic downhole environment.

Lining Used Tubing

Rising steel prices have caused operators to focus on extending the life of their steel tubulars. Lining used tubulars with thermoplastic liners becomes a very attractive option, especially as the costs of new tubulars increases. Thermoplastic liners have been documented to extend run times up to five times beyond previous mean time between failures (MTBF). The extended run time provides an additional benefit to other benefits such as reduced rod friction and elimination of rod guides.

Don't let rising steel prices break your operating budget while yellow, green, or blue band tubing deteriorates in your yard.

LightningFlo Lined Tubing by LPS

New lined tubing typically has a positive rate of return on any well that is failing more often than every 24 months, but economics improve even more when lining used tubulars. Used tubulars can be cleaned, inspected, and lined with LF115 resin below the cost of new tubing. Optional OD coating gives the appearance of new pipe while protecting it from the elements while the pipe is in the yard. The reduction in capital makes lined tubing projects extremely attractive, especially when considering the increased performance of the product.

Unsurpassed Quality

LightningFlo lined tubing's unmatched quality starts at the mill by using only the highest high quality metal for the tubing creation. The quality and consistency across the tubing string assures quality for each section of tubing. A detailed process uses the high-quality metal to form the tubing with tighter specifications than API requires. That results in a consistency along each section of tubing and enables a tighter-fit when the liner is inserted.

Each joint of tubing is drifted and inspected for defects at our manufacturing facility in Texas. Once the tubing is inspected, a measurement is taken of the inside diameter of the tube. Using advanced technology, each tubing section is matched to a corresponding liner size based on small variances well below API standards. The result is a liner that is custom fitted in each section of tubing, eliminating space between the liner and tubing and forming the tightest possible mechanical bond.

Lightning Production Services is responsible for every aspect of the process – from the milling of the metal to the insertion and bonding of the liners. That means there is no finger pointing between suppliers and manufacturers because you are dealing with the same company.

An Explicit Match for Each Well

By providing four different materials for lining, Lightning Rod and Pipe enables you to choose an effective and economical solution for various temperature ranges in your wells including 340˚F. The four different materials enable you to pinpoint the right material for your wells without the unnecessary costs of over-engineering for a particular operating temperature. The various materials inhibit the corrosion effects of H2S and C02 up to 5% & 20% respectively, depending on the material.

LightningFlo™ LF60 is comprised of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) resin designed to handle common well environments with lower temperatures and levels of H2S and C02. LightningFlo™ LF99 is a high-performance Polyethylene (PE) resin which allows it to be applied to higher temperature wells with more aggressive fluids and higher concentrations of H2S and C02. Novolac epoxy-based coated couplings are utilized to protect the exposed coupling area between joints.

LightningFlo™ LF170 is our highest temperature rated liner with a maximum operating temperature of 340°F. With a high tolerance for H2S and C02, it is liner that resists high temperatures, corrosion, and frictional wear.

LightningFlo™ LF115 our raised temperature Polyolefin ketone (POK) has been engineered for highly corrosive wells with abrasion resistance properties suitable for rod and tubing wear with and max operating temperature of 300°F. LF115 is economically suitable for salt water disposal wells (SWD), reciprocating rod lift, and progressing cavity pump wells. Lightning Rod and Pipe is the exclusive provider of POK tubing liners, which have been proven to extend the mean time between failures in well installations in various locations and operating environments.

Unique Advantage

Combining lined tubing with LightningRod™ continuous rod brings significant advantages to a rod pump well. The frictional wear is diminished significantly by both the liner in the tubing and the elimination of the rod string couplings. The result is a longer running well that can produce more with reduced workover costs.
